The University of Shimane, Japan, is delighted to host the 17th Annual Global Partners in Education Conference. The theme of 2024’s conference is “Fostering cross-cultural awareness through education”. We invite teachers, technical support personnel, and administrators from GPE partner institutions around the world to join us at the University of Shimane in Hamada City, Shimane prefecture, Japan from May 20-22 2024 for this important knowledge sharing and networking event.
recteur@univ-adrar.edu.dzFollowing the conference, there will be a cultural field seminar from the evening of May 22-May 25. During this seminar, participants will explore Shimane and learn about Japanese history, traditions, and customs. We will visit a 400-year-old castle in Matsue, the Grand shrine of Izumo Taisha, a traditional Japanese garden, and the village of Omori Ginzan part of UNESCO world heritage site Iwami silver mine.
Important dates: Please check if you require a visa to enter Japan (https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html) and be sure to submit relevant paperwork before the registration deadline for those who require a visa closes on Friday February 2nd 2024. The University of Shimane will provide letters of invitation for all GPE members who require one. Visa applications can take several months so we encourage you to apply on time. The call for paper and poster proposals will open shortly and close on Tuesday, February 22nd 2024. Registrations for those who do not need a visa closes on Tuesday February 29th. All payments should be received in Japanese yen by Friday March 29th 2024.
